History

Two companies – MSE FORKS and Meijer BV – are located on the Oudebildtdijk in Sint Jacobiparochie in North Holland (Friesland). Both companies originated from the same family company, but grew to become two independent companies with their own characteristics, activities, markets and management.

Meijer began as a one-man-business in 1921. Like many companies at this time, the company was focused on local agriculture. As a result, the company developed into a contracting firm/bulldozer rental company, which carried out repairs, and developed and constructed new machines and machine parts. In 1980, all bulldozer activities ceased, but the development and construction of special machines continued to be an important activity at Meijer. They established themselves by developing surprising and effective solutions for complicated technical problems. The expertise and experience that were gained in this field contributed greatly to their current success.

Sheet metalworking grew to become the main activity at Meijer Plaatbewerking. The company has been operating for many years now. Meijer distinguishes itself with its creativity and technical expertise. The company also owns a wide range of state-of-the-art machinery. This combined with sound organization and logistics processes has shaped Meijer Plaatbewerking's success.

MSE FORKS started out in patented telescopic forks that were first introduced in 1980. These telescopic forks were developed in partnership with a local company called KOOI BV – now known as Moffett. In November 2000, MSE FORKS took over the sales & marketing activities at KOOI BV. The brand name KOOI-REACHFORKS® was also taken over by MSE FORKS for its reputation in the world of logistics. MSE FORKS supplies telescopic forks under various independent labels throughout the materials handling industry.

Since being patented, most telescopic forks have been revised and improved. New patents were issued to MSE FORKS for some of these revised telescopic forks. Over time, other products have been added to MSE FORKS' range of products, e.g. mast extensions. All products are sold via a network of importers and dealers located around the world.

Since 2003, MSE FORKS has been marketing a very different product, ROLLERFORKS®. ROLLERFORKS® were developed and patented by MSE FORKS. The company received the Dutch Logistica Award 2003 and the Koninklijke MetaalUnie Innovation Award for the introduction of this product. This gave the product national recognition as the most innovative product of 2003. Besides its creativity, the economic importance and cost effectiveness of this product were deciding factors for being awarded this prize. ROLLERFORKS® are unique thanks to their simplicity and effectiveness that renders pallets and push pull systems superfluous.
